William B. Bill Bohan, 88, of Wood River, NE, formerly of Grand Island, NE, died Wednesday, August 07, 2013, at the V. A. Medical Center, Grand Island, NE. Memorial services will be Monday, August, 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Cathedral. The Rev. Jonathan D. Sorensen will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Greeley, NE, with a 2:00 p.m. committal service. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Charles E. Martin Post #186 and the Marines Honor Team. Visitation will be from 5 7 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Bill was born March 22, 1925, at Greeley, Nebraska, the son of John F. & Elizabeth (Cahill) Bohan.
Survivors of his immediate family include one son & daughter-in-law: John & Kathy Bohan of Huntsville, Alabama
One daughter & son-in-law: Anne and Larry Woitaszewski of Wood River, Nebraska
Ex-wife: Mary Bohan of Wood River, NE
Others left to cherish her memory include his grandchildren: Lacey, Lily & Lance Woitaszewski, Kristy, Nicholas, Andrew Bohan.
Bill grew up in Greeley, Nebraska and received his education there graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1944. He entered the Merchant Marines serving for 10 years. He married Mary T. Richardson on May 10, 1958 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They lived in Denver and he was employed with North Atlantic Contractors as a truck driver. He worked for National T Packing House in the maintenance department for 10 years, Swifts Packing and later Monforts retiring in 1994. He traveled abroad in his retirement visiting Austria & New Zealand and various states throughout the United States.
He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and tending to his vegetable garden and trees. He was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing politics and current events.
Memorials are to the familys choice.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Harold, Kevin, Robert Bob, Phil & Tom and one sister, Bernice McGuire.
