Viridiann F. Gorman, 85, of Grand Island, NE, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Monday, August 4, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Todd K. Philipsen will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 3, 2014, from 4 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Viridiann was born November 13, 1928, at Columbus, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Anton and Theresia (Pelster) Bode.

A sister-in-law, Delores Bode of Neligh, NE
A brother-in-law, Michael Gorman of Snyder, NY
Others left to cherish her memory include her three grandchildren, Casey, Ryan and Ty, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viridiann grew up in Raeville, NE, attending St. Johns Berchmans Grade School and graduating from Raeville High School in 1946. She continued her education at Wayne State Teachers College, Wayne, NE, teaching in the rural schools for several years. She returned to college completing her Bachelors of Arts degree at Creighton University in 1954. She was untied in marriage to Thomas F. Gorman on September 29, 1956, at St. Bonaventures Catholic Church in Raeville, NE. They moved to Grand Island where they raised their children. Viridiann was a substitute teacher for the public school system. She worked in admissions at St. Francis Medical Center from 1980 to 1995. Mr. Gorman died September 7, 1997.
Viridiann enjoyed bicycling, sewing, knitting and her crafts.
She was an early member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, volunteering whenever needed. She was a past president and member of the Grand Island Central Catholic Booster Club. She was Past President of the State Learning Disability Services and founder of the Grand Island Chapter, past president of N.A.R.F.E.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Gorman, brothers, and sisters-in-law, Charles and Marie Bode, Joseph, Lanore and Marjorie Bode, Sylvester and Theresa Bode, Delbert Bode, and an infant brother, sisters Odilia Della Bode, Christine Bode, Catherine Bode, Sylvia and Sylvester Schrad, and Cyril Schaecher.
