Obituary

Victor F. Singkofer, 95, of Grand Island, died Saturday, November, 2, 2013, at Mitchell County Hospitals Special Care Unit, in Beloit, Kansas. Services will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Todd K Philipsen and Fr. Mark A. Maresh will concelebrate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Team. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 5 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Victor was born November 13, 1917, at Mosinee, WI. He was the son of William and Vesta (Saylor) Singkofer. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 70 years, Leona, of Grand Island, NE Five sons and three daughters-in-law, Tom and Laura Singkofer of Hastings, NE Mike and Margie Singkofer of Mosinee, WI Fred Singkofer of Wausau, WI Steve Singkofer of Tucson, AZ Bob and Mary Singkofer of St. Paul, NE Three daughters and a son-in-law, Germaine and George Richards of Gilmer, TX Annette Siemers of Mosinee, WI Patti Cortright of Mosinee, WI One brother and sister-in-law, Willaim and Barb Singkofer of Mosinee, WI One sister, June Alexander of Chappell, NE 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Victor grew up in Mosinee, graduating from high school in 1936. He entered the Army on April 7, 1942. He married Leona Eiter on May 3, 1943 at Mosinee, WI. After his honorable discharge on October 26, 1945, he returned to Mosinee, where victor was a draftsman for Wausau Iron Works, crafting snow equipment and trailer hooks for trucks. He continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard, during the Berlin Crisis and spent one year at Fort Lewis, WA, before retiring in 1977. In 1968 he began working for Able Distribution, a mobile home plumbing supply company. In 1972 Victor transferred to Grand Island where he worked until retiring in 1982 Victor enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing cards. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1159, past member of the American Legion. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jason Singkofer, great grandson, Kyle McManus, a daughter-in-law, Helen Singkofer and two sisters.
