Obituary

The Rev. John D. Reehl, 83, of Grand Island, NE, died Saturday, 18 November 2017, at his home. Services will be Friday, 24 November 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Adam Snoberger, Rev. Rod Armon, and Rev. James Carretto will officiate. Private burial will occur. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Orphanage and Prison ministries in Russia and the Baltics with Orphan Grain Train. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Pastor Reehl was born 23 January 1934, at Perryton, TX. He was the son of Fredrick R. and Alta G. (French) Reehl. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 60 years, June Reehl. Daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Bruce) Tiedeman Julia (John) Hoesche Sons and daughters-in-law, John (Kristine) Reehl II Theodore (Mary) Reehl Sister and brother-in-law, Beth (John) Riley Others left to cherish his memory include his 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and all his precious orphans. Pastor Reehl was baptized and confirmed into The Missouri Synod Lutheran faith. He attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He served congregations in Nebraska and Oregon. He married June H. Bauer and to this union four children were born. He served his country as a Chaplain in the Nebraska Army National Guard. In his retirement he loved his mission work in Russia and the Baltics with Orphan Grain Train. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fredrick and Calvin, infant sister, Karen, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
