Susan K. Burson, 56, of Wedgewood Care Center, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Wedgewood, after an extended illness. Services will be Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Private family burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Susan was born May 17, 1957, at Beatrice, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Thomas H. and Dorothy (Bruha) Meuret Jr. Survivors of her immediate family include her parents, Tom and Dorothy Meuret Jr., of Grand Island, NE Two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bill and Linda Meuret of Helena, MT Don Meuret of Ord, NE Retha Meuret of Oklahoma City, OK Early in her life Susan moved to Ord, Nebraska with her family. She attended St. Marys Elementary School and graduated from Ord High School in 1975. Susan married Ken Burson after high school and they lived in North Loup. They later divorced and she then moved to Grand Island where she spent most of her adult life. She had a great love for animals. She cherished her dog Precious and her cat Gorgeous. She was an advocate for mistreated or abandoned pets, and would work at finding accommodations for them. She enjoyed reading self-help and spiritual books in her spare time. Memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society. She was preceded in death by her brother Bob Meuret, grandparents, Frank Jr. and Emma (Maresh) Bruha, Thomas H. and Bridget (Boyle) Meuret, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
