Steven J. Post, 82, of Grand Island, NE died at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Steve’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. You are encouraged to sign Steve’s guestbook at www.curranfuneralchapel.com under his obituary. Steve was born April 19, 1944 in Clay Center, Nebraska. The son of Harold & Doris (Stark) Post. He grew up in the Trumbull area graduating from Trumbull High School in 1962. Steve entered the U.S. Navy on March 12, 1963 serving until his honorable discharge on March 6, 1966. Steve returned to the Trumbull area. He was united in marriage to Carol Trausch on April 27, 1968, in Hastings, NE where they made their home. They raised their three children Angie, Carol’s daughter whom Steve adopted, Greg and Dave. Steve worked for Sperry New Holland in tool & die from 1966 to 1974 when he took a supervisor position transferring to the Lexington plant. They lived in Lexington and later Overton until the Case plant closed in 1986. Steve took a position at Hornady Manufacturing in Grand Island in 1987 commuting back and forth from Overton until moving to Grand Island in 1991. He retired in 2007.
Steve was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed time spent at his cabin at Calamus Reservoir near Burwell, NE, golfing and loved mowing his lawn.
He was a member of the NRA.
