Stephen H. "Steve" Happold, 81, of rural Doniphan, NE died Thursday, February 8, 2024, at his home. Services will be Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Doniphan, NE. The Rev. Tyler Hauptmeier will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in Cedar View Cemetery, in Doniphan, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Steve was born March 24, 1942, in Grand Island, NE, the son of Norman William and Alice Ruth (Holbein) Happold. Steve was baptized at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doniphan. He grew up on the family farm in Doniphan attending Trumbull High School graduating with the class of 1960. He farmed with his father on the family farm. Steve married Judy A. Robb on June 4, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, NE. The couple lived in rural Doniphan raising their children Renee, Nick, and Ryan. Steve spent his entire life farming and raising black angus cattle, and remained active farming and maintaining his cattle herd, with his sons, until his death. Steve and Judy traveled extensively and enjoyed seeing and experiencing the culture of the world but he most enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's 4-H activities and his trips to his beloved Eustis family. Steve was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doniphan. Steve is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Happold of Doniphan, NE Daughter, Renee (Dan) Saathoff of Trumbull, NE Sons, Nick (Tracy) Happold of Doniphan, NE Ryan Happold of Doniphan, NE Seven grandchildren, Rachel Saathoff of Lincoln, NE, Carson Saathoff, Allison Saathoff both of Trumbull, NE, Brandy Happold, Emily Happold, Rya Happold, and Turner Happold all of Doniphan, NE. Sister, Peg (Eldon) Kroeger of Doniphan, NE Brother-in-law, Jerry Uffelman of Yorba Linda, CA Steve is preceded in death by his infant son William, parents, Norman and Alice Happold, sisters, Rosanne Uffelman, Mary Berg, in-laws, Melvin and Lela Robb, sister-in-law, Bobbe Ormond.
