Obituary

Shirley E. Carter, 75, of Grand Island, NE formerly of Dallas, TX, died Thursday, March 18, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Shirley was cremated and her life will be celebrated at a later date in Texas. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Lovie Jones Rainbolt Earl. Shirley grew up in Dallas attending Amelia Earhart Elementary School, C.L. Carr Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School. She continued her education in California. She was a Respiratory Therapist, for 29 years, at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. After retiring she worked as a CNA at Heritage Place in Mesquite, TX retiring for good in 2010. Shirley loved to read and watch western movies. She appreciated spending afternoons in the park enjoying nature. She loved shopping at her favorite store, Ross Dress for Less. She was a kind person and will be remembered for her gracious attitude when assisting others. She loved to listen to music and was light on her feet, and she had a talent for crafting floral arrangements. Shirley will be forever missed by her children, Vickie Vaughn, Fredrick Vaughn, Reginald Vaughn, and Jason Carter. Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Courtney Vaughn, Corry Gates, Reginald Vaughn Jr., Joshua Vaughn, Aaron Carter, Jaesa Carter, Jason Carter Jr., and great grandchildren, Damien Carter, Olivia Carter, Vanessa Vaughn, Nora Vaughn. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Jacobie Carter, sisters, Bobbie Gipson and Betty Bell, brother, Benjamin Earl Jr. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
