Obituary

Sheila A. Vetick, 72, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society – Wood River. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The celebrant is the Rev. Scott M. Harter. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Sheila was born January 6, 1944, at Wahoo, Nebraska. She was the daughter of John and Bernice (Koenig) Krueger. Survivors of her immediate family include her husband of 52 years Martin Vetick of Grand Island, NE Son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Russ and Joanie Vetick of Neligh, NE Daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Kevin Hutt of Easton, PA Brother and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Anne Krueger of Omaha, NE Gail Krueger of Grand Island, NE Sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilee and Terry Clark of Berthoud, CO Caroline Campbell and Dale Davis of Omaha, NE Sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frank Vetick of Grand Island, NE Rosemary and Virgil Lassek of Columbus, NE Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Nick, Andy and Sidney Hutt and many nieces and nephews. Sheila grew up in St. Edward, Nebraska graduating from St. Edward High School in 1962. She married Martin Vetick on June 27, 1964, at St. Edward, NE. They lived in Omaha, NE and Spokane, WA before moving to Grand Island 1966. Sheila was manager of Old Home Bakery Thrift Store in Grand Island and later worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart. Sheila enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: spending time with family and friends, working in her flower garden, the quiet beauty of horses and a glass of raspberry ice tea with extra syrup and very little ice. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Cathedral Ladies. She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Lisa Ann Vetick and a brother, Marvin Krueger.
