Sharon E. Hughes, 79, died Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Tabitha at Prairie Commons in Grand Island, NE, with her son at her side. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Luther Zuberbier will officiate. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2024, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Sharon was born in Alliance Nebraska and grew up on a ranch north of Seneca. She graduated from Thomas County High School, Thedford Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln earning her degree in Education followed by a Master of Education from Doane University. She taught in District 18 of Cherry County followed by Howard Elementary and Newell Elementary in Grand Island Nebraska retiring after over 40 years of service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvo and Clara Crawford, her husband, Gene and daughter, Micaela McGinty. She is survived by her son, Colby Brown (Belinda), granddaughter, Lea Hilliard, grandsons, Bailey Kraemer (Madilyn) and Riley Kraemer, great granddaughters, Brea Neu (Dean) and Christina Osborne, great grandson, Zayn Kraemer, great great-grandson, Ethan Neu, great great-granddaughter, Emma Neu, her sister, Carol Grummert (Gary) and their daughter, Lori Wright (Bert), and cousin, Liane Griffith (Jerry).
