Obituary

Rose H. Urbanski, 94, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Golden Living Center Lakeview surrounded by her family. Services will be Monday, October 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Marys Cathedral. The Rev. Jonathan D. Sorensen will be the celebrant. Mrs. Urbanski will be cremated following the services and private family inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Rose was born September 29, 1918, at Elyria, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Leon and Victoria (Kozial) Dubas. Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Lois Urbanski of Grand Island, NE Jerome Jerry and Carol Urbanski of Grand Island, NE One brother, Chester Dubas of Niles, IL One sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Ivan Booth of Jonestown, OH Others left to cherish her memory include four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Rose grew up in Elyria attending Good Nose School. She married John T. Urbanski in August of 1942, at Elyria, NE. They farmed several years in the area before moving to Grand Island in 1949. Rose was a homemaker until Mr. Urbanskis death in 1959, after which she began working at Heights Drive Inn. She worked at Holiday Manufacturing and continued working when it was purchased by Leon Plastics. She retired in 1984. Rose loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and loved polka dancing with her good friend Lou Kaminski. She was a member of St. Marys Cathedral since moving to Grand Island in 1949 and the Cathedral Ladies. Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Cathedral. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, brother & sisters-in-law, Ben & Margaret Dubas, Gertrude Dubas and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Meyers.
