Ronald D. "Ron" Miller Sr., 73, of Grand Island, NE, died peacefully at his home with family at his side on Friday, October 22, 2021. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, October 29, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald A. Buhrman and Rev. Mark A. Maresh will concelebrate. The funeral mass will be livestreamed on St. Leo's Catholic Church Facebook page. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery with military honors United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Team. Visitation will be Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 7 p.m. The vigil service will be livestreamed on Curran Funeral Chapel's Facebook page. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Ron was born October 27, 1947, in Aurora, NE. He was the son of Jacob and Mildred (Payne) Miller. Ron grew up in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Sr. High School in 1966. Ron served for several years with the Nebraska National Guard. He was a skilled mechanic and salesman, working for Schuppan's and Hamilton Chevrolet, and retired as a custodian for the Grand Island, Public Schools. Ron married Mary "Ann" (Jungels) Goodwin, on November 27, 1981, at St. Mary's Cathedral, Grand Island, NE, where they made their home. In March of 2019 Ron was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Ron enjoyed bike riding, gardening and keeping a perfect yard. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and was a greeter at church. Ron is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ann Miller of Grand Island, NE Sons, Ronald Miller Jr. of Grand Island, NE Jason (Suzanne) Goodwin of Lincoln, NE Jim (Chris) Goodwin II of Chesterfield, MO Grandson, James Goodwin III, and adopted grandson Kyler Bartels Brother, Richard (Arlene) Miller of Dannebrog Step-sister, Jean (Darrell) Roth of Omaha, NE Jan (Ken) Kavensky of Fishers, IN Deb (Dale) Rasmussen of St. Paul, NE Sister-in-law, Janet Jungels of Camdenton, MO Several nieces, nephews and cousins Ron is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Phyllis Miller, brother, Randall Miller, brother-i n-law, Dr. Jim Jungels.
