Robert D. Robertson, 85, of Grand Island, NE, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, the result of a car accident. Mr. Robertson requested to be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 6, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Scott M. Harter will officiate assisted by Deacon Robert Puhalla. Private family Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2018, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 4 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
R.D. was born October 12, 1932, at Grand Island, NE. He was the son of Joseph T. and Mary B. (Smith) Robertson.

Others left to cherish his memory include his 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Joe Robertson.
R.D. grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Sr. High School in 1950. He owned and operated ABA Recovery Service until his death.
He had a great love for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren having enjoyed the time spent with each of them. His favorite pastime was his work and reading. He had a great love for animals and a passion for horses. Homeless animals and people alike had a special place in his heart. One of his favorite sayings was "The only thing we get to keep is what we give away". In his later years of life R.D. concentrated on his walk with God.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, life member of the Sherriff's Posse, Pine Ridge Riders, Sertoma Club, Cosmopolitan Club, NE Collectors Assoc., and a former member of Knights of Columbus.
