Robert Arden "Bobby" Geier, 60, of Grand Island, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Golden LivingCenter Lakeview in Grand Island, after a long battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Matt Fowler will officiate. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Geier chose to be cremated.
Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Geier was born on May 29, 1950, in Osceola, the son of George and Violet (Curtis) Geier.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi of Grand Island; his children and their spouses, Toby and LuAnn Geier of Leigh, Robbin and James Reeves, Tamara and Keith Herndon, and Monica and Robert Kelley, all of Omaha, Anthony Geier, Candice Geier and Natashua Geier, all of Pueblo, Colo.; his stepsons, David and Meredith Cox of Pueblo, Colo., Rob and Lauren Trosper of Seward, and Ryan Trosper and his friend Christine of Lincoln; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Lucille Geier of Columbus, LeRoy and Sharon Geier of Clarks and Carroll "Butch" and Rosalie Geier of Durango, Colo.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosella and Bob Starostka of Grand Island and Delores Santin of Fullerton; a stepbrother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jean Andreasen of Columbus and a stepsister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dana Christman of Genoa.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Keasha and Sydney Geier, Ryan Reeves, Trenton Herndon, Jocelyn, Jonathan and Julia Kelley, Eva Upton, Ashley Geier, Nathaniel, Sydney and Alissa Patton, Amber and Derrick Cox and Noah Trosper. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Oscar.
Bobby grew up on a farm near Havens. He was the youngest of seven children. The family later moved to Columbus, where he graduated from Columbus High School in 1969.
He was united in marriage to Jodi (Ondracek) Trosper on Nov. 24, 2007, at Grand Island.
He was an avid lover of the outdoors and worked as a truck driver for many years. During his life, he drove over 3.5 million miles across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Along for the ride was his beloved dog, Sooner.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and classic country music. He and Jodi enjoyed traveling and camping together.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his stepfather, Francis Andreasen; three grandchildren, Justin Geier, Mycayla Kelley and Ethan Patton; one sister, Betty Jane Geier; one brother-in-law, Donald Santin; one nephew, Tommy Starostka; his grandparents; and his dog, Sooner.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Faith United Methodist Church.
