Robert L. Bob Wheeler, 66, of Grand Island, NE, passed peacefully from life with family by his side on Wednesday April 8, 2015, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Services will be Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Curran Funeral Chapel and the family request casual attire at the service. The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Honor Team. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Bob was born February 23, 1949, in Lexington, NE to Charles P. and Rose Ruth (Stear) Wheeler. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Rosamay Rose Wheeler of Grand Island, NE Daughters, Rebecca, Rachael and Katie. His sisters, Linda and Beth, brothers, Dave and Dan. Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Rose, brother, Paul and his second mother, Aunt Marion. Bob served in the Navy from 1968 to 1971 aboard the USS Oriskany off the Vietnam Coast. He married Rose in September of 1974, in Grand Island, NE. They lived in Norfolk where he worked at St. Regis Paper Co. and Goodrich Dairy. In 1986 they moved to Grand Island where he was a truck driver for Grand Island Express for 28 years. He drove over 3.3 million accident free miles. In his retirement he loved time spent with family, enjoyed woodworking, and seeing the countryside. Memorials are suggested to the familys choice.
