Rita C. Kubicek, 86, of Grand Island, NE, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The celebrant is Fr. Todd K. Philipsen. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery, Ord, NE with a 2:00 p.m. committal service. Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2014, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Rita was born February, 20, 1928, at Loup City, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Walter and Anna (Zaruba) Damratowski.

Sister-in-law, Norma Jablonski of Omaha, NE
Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Blake, Kylee, Brady and Brookly, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Rita grew up in the Loup City, NE area, receiving her education at Loup City High School. She married Adrian Jablonski on May 16, 1955, at Elyria, NE. The couple farmed in Elyria until Adrian's untimely death 1965. Rita moved with her children to Ord, NE for a year and in 1966 they moved to Grand Island, NE. She was a hair stylist at Regis Hair Salon and later worked at Skagway, in the health and beauty department, retiring in 1988 after 14 years of service. She married Dwaine Kubicek on September 17, 1988, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Grand Island, NE. They farmed in Milligan, NE and Rita enjoyed helping Dwaine with chores on the farm. They moved to Grand Island in 1997.
Rita was her children and grandchildren's greatest fan. She loved watching their sports and school activities. She was a Royal's fan, enjoyed cross stitch, puzzles, the atmosphere of the casino's, dancing, and polka music. She loved to travel, she and Dwaine traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada and abroad.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, volunteered at the Thrift Store and helped with funeral dinners at the church. She was a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the VFW Club.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Adrian Jablonski, and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Evangeline Damratowski and a brother-in-law, Marvin Jablonski.
