Ricky L. Brokaw, 57, of Grand Island, NE, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Mr. Brokaw was cremated, a memorial service will be planned for a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Ricky was born July 27, 1959, at Norfolk, NE. He was the son of Leslie C. and Clara A. Brokaw. Survivors of his immediate family include his sons, Leslie Brokaw of Grand Island, NE Jacob Brokaw of Grand Island, NE His mother and step father, Clara and Loyal Ruhl of Central City, NE Brothers and sister-in-law, Larry and Claudia Brokaw of Mullen, NE Terry Brokaw of North Platte, NE Sisters, Connie Dettman of Central City, NE Cindy Hines of North Platte, NE Others left to cherish his memory include his numerous, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ricky moved to Central City as a youngster attending school there and later at Lincoln Northeast. He met his special friend Sylvia Roman. They lived in Central City and Grand Island, raising their sons Leslie and Jacob. Ricky was a master at operating heavy equipment. He worked construction throughout Nebraska and also did tree removal in the state. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also participated in Golden Glove Boxing. He was preceded in death by his father, sisters, Karen Brokaw, Twila Widman, and a brother, Randy Brokaw, grandparents, Clarence and Cecilia Brokaw, and George and Myrtle Timmerman.
