Richard Z. Kosmicki, 87, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Golden Living Center Lakeview. Services will be Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Todd K. Philipsen and Rev. Raymond M. Kosmicki will concelebrate the funeral mass. Burial will be Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015, from 5 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Richard was born on Decoration Day, May 30, 1928, on the family farm in rural Loup City, Nebraska. He was the son of Peter P. and Julia (Zielinski) Kosmicki. Survivors of the immediate family include two grandsons, Jeff and Tyeisha Kosmicki of Omaha, NE Ben Kosmicki of Hastings, NE Granddaughter, Breanna Kosmicki of Lincoln, NE A great granddaughter, Kyla Bertram. One brother and sister-in-law, Delphie Del and Elizabeth Kosmicki of Grand Island, NE Richard grew up on the family farm outside Loup City. He attended Dist. 52 grade school and Davis Creek Jr. High, in Valley County. He married Alberta Sautter on April 19, 1952 at Grand Island, NE. They live in Grand Island where Richard worked for Singer Sewing Co. before owning and operating his business, Dicks Sewing Machine Service. He and Alberta also owned and managed rental property in town. His wife Alberta, died February 3, 2013 and his son Gordon, died November 6, 2010. He loved polka dancing, bingo and traveling. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alberta Kosmicki, a son Gordon Kosmicki, sisters, Evelyn Petrisor, Dorothy Hiser, Loretta Pierszk, Irene Bruha, Delores Dee Powell and a brother, Leo Steve Kosmicki.
