Richard L. Dick Montague, 75, of Hastings, Nebraska, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at CHI Health St. Francis, in Grand Island. A service in celebration of his life will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lifehouse Church, 3001 W. 12th St, Hastings, NE (the Northwest corner of Imperial Mall). Dicks wishes were to be cremated. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Dick was born March 23, 1940, at Alliance, NE. He was the son of Coran S. Bud and Eileen (Garrett) Montague. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Sandi Montague of Hastings, NE; his children and their spouses: Mike and Lilly Montague of Wichita, KS, Lori and Charlie Foster of Alliance, NE, Sheri Montague of Scottsbluff, NE, Holly King of Chandler, AZ, Mark and Juliea Montague of Hastings, NE, Patrick Montague and his fianc Jessy Baynard of Arvada, CO; and his sister, Sandy Saum of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dick grew up in Alliance, graduating from Alliance High School in 1958. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps, serving until his honorable discharge in 1961. He married Deanna Hanna in 1961 in Alliance, NE, where they raised their three children, Mike, Lori and Sheri. Dick was self-employed in sales, direct marketing and real estate. He married Sandi Shaw in 1976 in San Marino, CA. They lived in Colorado where they raised their children Holly, Mark and Patrick. Dick retired in 2002, returning to Nebraska where he and Sandi owned alpacas. Dick was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He was a lifelong fan of football, having played throughout high school, college and in the Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Montague.
