Rhonda S. Day, 61, of Grand Island, NE, died Saturday, December 02, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with a rare autoimmune disease. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Martin L. Egging will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, 2017, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Rhonda was born May 9, 1956, in Loup City, NE. She was the daughter of David and Ramona (Ross) Fredrick. She was raised on a farm near Ashton. She attended St. Francis Parochial School in Ashton and Loup City High School. On October 31, 1973 she was united in marriage to Dennis Day in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. They spent their early years in Virginia Beach, Virginia while Dennis was serving in the U.S. Navy, Returning to Nebraska they lived near Ansley and farmed. They moved to Grand Island in 1984. Rhonda was employed at the Swift plant for 31 years. She finished her career there as a Quality Assurance Tech. Rhonda took great pride in her job. She enjoyed spending time at Sherman Lake with her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren, children and beloved husband. Her family was everything to her. Rhonda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis of Grand Island, NE Son, Christopher (Holly) Day of California, MO Daughters, Heather (Ryan) Nolan of Grand Island, NE Mandee (Jerry) Lade of Grand Island, NE Jessica Day Milbourn of Grand island, NE Her parents, David and Ramona Fredrick of Ashton, NE Brothers, Randy Fredrick of Ashton, NE Brian Fredrick of Grand Island, NE Kevin Fredrick of Rose Hill, KS Terry Fredrick of Ashton, NE Sister, Kimary (Dennis) Lane of Grand Island, NE Sister-in-law, Dacia (Jim) Dzingle of Loup City, NE Brothers-in-law, Daniel (Susan) Day of Loup City, NE Douglas (Sharon) Day of Loup City, NE Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Jerald "J.J.", JuliAnn, Bryce, Arianna "Ari", Kade, Lauren, Karlee, Bradley, Ostynn, Zach, Matt, Tommy, numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, and specials friends Roberta Hall and Lorey Gosch. Rhonda is preceded in death by her grandson Bradley, and infant brother, sister-in-law, Doran Newberry, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Lavonne Day.
