Obituary

Peggy "Jean" Robley, 77, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Monday, November 05, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be Friday, November 9, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Jean was born August 7, 1935, at Greenville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Jacob L. and Ruth P. (Manley) Flanagan. Survivors of the immediate family include her daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Craig Maly of Grand Island, NE Son, Larry Robley of Falcon, CO Six grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie & Chris Shade, Stacie & Matt West, Nickie & Jack Melson, Matthew & Katey Maly, Scott Robley and David Robley. Nine great grandchildren, Tricia, Diamond, Eric, Amy, Corinne and Micah Shade, Asa West, Caleb and Gabrielle Maly. Jean grew up in Seneca, South Carolina graduating from high school in 1953 and married that same year. She lived in Europe while her husband was stationed there for the service. She attended Morningside College and UNO, majoring in Business and Fashion Merchandising. She owned and operated Jean's Fashions, in Lyons, NE. She began a home business, designing and creating dolls, which she sold across the country. Later, she entered the service industry, where she founded a successful nanny placement company, which screened, trained, and placed young women from the midwest with families on the east coast, who wanted women with midwest values and work ethic, to care for their children. Following retirement, she moved to Falcon, Colorado, where she enjoyed part-time work as a product demonstrator for several local wholesale companies. She returned to Lyons before moving to Grand Island in June of 2012. Jean loved the time spent with her family. She was exceptionally artistic and enjoyed music, painting, and art. She loved designing clothes and had extraordinary tastes. She liked to shop, travel and was an avid reader sometimes reading a novel a day. Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
