In 1933 her father established a business in Grand Island, the Coney Island Lunch Room. After the move, she attended Grand Island public schools, which included Dodge School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High. Pauline was married, briefly, to Evan Jonson, and there were no children from the marriage. She was an integral part of the family business until her retirement in 1989. For most of her working career, she worked side-by-side with her father and brothers, Sam and Gus Katrouzos. She was popular with customers and was known for her radiant spirit, and honesty. According to her brother, Gus, she walked to work one mile each day and was one of the hardest workers he ever knew. "We all had our nicknames back then," according to her brother, Gus. Because she was on the heavier side during her teenage years her friends came to call her "Seabiscuit." "Being named after a very winning and famous horse didn't offend her," he added. In 2003, Pauline became a resident of Grand Island Park Place Care and Rehabilitation Center living there until her death. The employees, residents, and friends, at the nursing home were like family to Pauline. She loved their company and they loved spending time and caring for her. Pauline was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Island, and was a member of its choir. She was an avid Husker Fan, "Go Big Red"! Survivors of her immediate family include her brother, Gus Katrouzos and his wife Christina, niece, Katherine Katrouzos and nephew, George Katrouzos, godson, Paul Jamson. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Julia, and a brother, Sam. Pauline's guest book can be signed at www.curranfuneralchapel.com under her obituary.
