Paul J. Schafer, 75, of Doniphan, Nebraska, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church, in Doniphan. The Rev. John R. Sullivan will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 4 8 p.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church with a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Paul was born June 3, 1941, at Greeley, NE. He was the son of Herman D. and Aileen F. (OConnor) Schafer.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 56 years, Joyce Schafer of Doniphan, NE
Three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Ramona Schafer of Doniphan, NE

A daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Timothy Rosfeld of Callaway, NE
Two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Michael and LeeAnn Schafer of Kearney, NE

Two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Roger and Carol Boltz of Grand Island, NE
Robert Boltz of Sun City, AZ
Others left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Allison Schafer, Cory Schafer, Quinten Schafer, Connor Rosfeld, and Irelyn Rosfeld.
Paul lived in OConnor, NE until moving with his family to Doniphan in 1945. He attended District #10 country school southeast of Doniphan and graduated from Doniphan Public School in 1959. Paul married Joyce A. Boltz on February 27, 1960 at Grand Island, NE. They lived in Doniphan where he farmed and hauled cattle until his health forced him to retire.
Paul especially loved time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He was a lifetime member of St. Anns Catholic Church, past member of the Doniphan School Board, Cedarview Cemetery Association Board and the Saddle Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry, Ted, Roger Leo, and his father and mother-in-law, Ben and Bernina Boltz.
Memorials are suggested to St. Anns Catholic Church or Doniphan Volunteer Fire Department.
