Paul J. Farlee, 93, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Village Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska. Services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Cathedral. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force Honor Team. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2011, from 4 7:00 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Paul was born July 23, 1917, at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He was the son of George & Bridget (Mahoney) Farlee.
Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Gade & fianc Val Benes of Lincoln, NE
Janet & John Streedbeck of Lincoln, NE
One son & daughter-in-law, Jerry & Renee Farlee of Eagan, MN
Others left to cherish him memory include five grandchildren, Angela Ehrenfeld, Jill Helmke, Nicole Klekner, Laura Farlee and Sara Streedbeck.

His caregiver and special friend Kelly Samson of Grand Island.
Paul received his education in Wolbach, NE. After his schooling he entered the U.S. Air Force on January 28, 1942 serving during WWII until his honorable discharge on October 9, 1945. He married Loretta Slattery on September 14, 1946 at Grand Island, NE. They lived in Grand Island where Paul was employed with Reitans Garage as a mechanic. In 1954 he began working for UPRR also as a mechanic, retiring in 1979 after 25 years of service. In retirement he continued his mechanic skills at Ace Hardware repairing lawnmowers. Mrs. Farlee died February 25, 2004.
He was a member of St. Marys Cathedral, Eagles, Platt-Duetsche, American Legion Club and the Saddle Club.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, wife, Loretta, brothers, Leo, Virgil & Francis Farlee and one sister Irene Bigley.
