Mitchel A. Krolikowski, 54, of Grand Island, NE, died Sunday, October, 17, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis, in Grand Island, NE. Funeral service will be Monday, October 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Third City Christian Church. Pastor Scott Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City, NE, with a 2:00 p.m. committal service. Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2021, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family with a college fund being established for his children's continued education. Mitchel was born January 21, 1967, in Loup City, NE. The son of Dennis P. and Donna L. (Gallaway) Krolikowski. He grew up on the family farm near Loup City, NE. He received his education in Loup City where he was a member of the football team, graduating from Loup City High School in 1985. He traveled to California where he worked for a Bee Keeping service for several years. Mitch returned to Loup City where he was an EMT on the Loup City Volunteer Ambulance Service, while working as a mechanic and driver for John Deere in Ord, NE. Mitch became a member of the Loup City Knights of Columbus. He continued his education at Southeast Community College completing the Truck driving school program in 1992. Mitch began driving OTR for Seward Motor Freight. He received Driver of The Year recognition in 1995 from the company. This distinction gave him the privilege of transporting the weights for the University of Nebraska football team to the National Championship game in Arizona. He got to experience firsthand the excitement of game week plus witness college football history as Nebraska repeated as National Champions. Mitch married Joyce Green on September 4, 1999, in Ord, NE. The couple made their home in Loup City and later Grand Island, NE. Mitch drove overnight runs for Dakota Lewis before beginning his career with FedEx Freight in May 2004. He had local routes and at the time of his death was line hauling to Kansas City and Des Moines. Mitch and his family have enjoyed attending Third City Christian Church since moving to Grand Island, NE in 2011.
Mitch was a strong family man and always wrapped Joyce, Madeline, and Keith in a family hug each night. He took great pride in his family and made sure to spend quality time as a family unit daily, instilling the importance of the family being together and creating memories to last a lifetime. He enjoyed bicycle rides, boating, 4-wheeling, camping, and vacation trips. He especially looked forward to watching his children's sporting, school events, 4-H horse competitions and practices as well as spending time around the campfire with them. Any spare time he had was spent riding his motorcycle and listening to his 80's music. He anxiously awaited the Sturgis rally each year.
