Maybelle A. Wheeler, 82, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Grand Island, NE, passed away on May 30, 2012, in Dallas, Texas. Memorial services will be Monday, June 25, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Gollaher Chapel, Trinity United Methodist Church, 511 N. Elm St, Grand Island, NE 68801. The Rev. Bob Rhodes will officiate. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Maybelle was born, February 23, 1930, in Eagle Bend, Minnesota to Elmer and Vandela (Peterson) Lundgren. She married Lloyd J. Wheeler in 1947 in Clarissa, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2010.
Maybelle grew up and attended high school in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. In 1955 she moved to Grand Island where her husband, Lloyd and his father, Ted, developed and managed the Wheelers Stores farm supply business.
Maybelle and Lloyd raised their family in Grand Island. Later, they divided their time between Battle Lake, Minnesota and Mesa, Arizona. Since 2005, she and Lloyd resided in Dallas, Texas. Maybelle was a dedicated mother and grandmother who enjoyed china painting, going to the movies, playing cards and Ti Chi. She was an active member of Stuhr Museum, the Lutheran Hospital and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: Bruce and Sheila Wheeler of Albany, Oregon, Byron and Patti Wheeler of Grand Island, Nebraska, Tim and Debbie Wackel of Dallas, Texas as well as four grandchildren, Amy Basore, Eric Wheeler, Margaret Wackel, and Nicholas Wackel. Also surviving are her two sister-in-laws, Beverly Swanson and Shirley Eberspacher of Grand Island. Maybelle was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters, Geneva Einerwold and Elinore Eis.
