Matthew A. “Matt” Tubbs, 59, of Grand Island, NE died November 13, 2025. The family requested cremation and services will be at a later date per family request. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Matt was born on Dec 1, 1965 on a night he spent a lovely weekend in Toledo. He moved around Michigan before settling on Nebraska for his final move. Why in Grand Island? Ask him in the afterlife.

He was the middle child of 5. He did a lot of good things, helped friends and family. He was also up for a good joke/time, see his sweater photo. He didn’t shy away from self-deprecating humor. He was an equal opportunity jokester, sounds funnier when we say equal opportunity offender. Some preferred to call him an a**hole, but still accept his help.

He was raised a Presbyterian. Left that and became a Catholic upon his marriage. Got divorced and became a believer in the universe controls all. All of that religious influence and he didn’t hesitate to use his native tongue/language of swearing.

Matt started his working career picking vegetables and going with the farmer to Eastern Market in Detroit to sell them. He did work as a cook for years. Was a desktop publisher, graphic artist and finished his careers as a job placement recruiter.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Jackie Tubbs of Michigan. He is survived by his siblings Lorinda (John) Katke of Toledo, Oh; Richard (Linda) Tubbs of Orlando, FL; Steven Tubbs of Britton, MI; Scott Tubbs Loveridge, Lakeland, FL and some nieces and nephews.

He will be missed.
