Mary Ann Bowden, 83, of Wood River, NE. formerly of Doniphan, NE, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society Wood River. Services will be Monday, January 28, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan, NE. The Rev. Kelly Karges will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarview Cemetery at Doniphan, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, January 27, 2013, from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel.
Mary Ann was born February 12, 1929, at Doniphan, Nebraska. She is the daughter of Clifford S. & Pearl E. (Kingston) Denman.
Survivors of her immediate family include three sons & a daughter-in-law:

Mary Ann grew up and received her education in Doniphan graduating from Doniphan High School in 1946. She attended Kearney Teaching College. She married Joe Bowden on June 30, 1948 at Doniphan, NE. They lived in Doniphan and she taught at Dist. 40 and Dist 19 and at Seedling Mile Grade School. She was a Clerk for the U.S. Post Office at Doniphan, NE for 15 years before becoming Postmaster at Dunning, NE, retiring November 30, 1990. Mr. Bowden died April 4, 1999.
Mary Ann was a marvelous cook. She enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting. She crocheted blankets as a graduation gift for all of her grandchildren. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is a member of the United Methodist Church in Doniphan and the Doniphan Legion Post #300 Auxiliary, was active in the Eastern Star and was Past Worthy Matron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe, brothers and sister-in-law, Elvin Denman, Bob & Maxine Denman.
Memorials are suggested to Doniphan Sr. Citizen Center, The Doniphan Legion Baseball Association or the familys choice.
