Marilyn J. (Janulewicz) Menke, 74, of Grand Island, NE, died suddenly at her home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Funeral service will be Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Donald A. Buhrman will officiate. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Marilyn was born February 23, 1949, in Grand Island, NE. She was the daughter of Harry and Blanche (Stanczyk) Janulewicz. Marilyn grew up in Grand Island attending Blessed Sacrament Grade School before moving with her family to Omaha. She attended Mercy High School and graduated from Omaha South in 1967. Marilyn lived in Seattle, Washington and later North Platte, NE working as a Nurse's Aide. Marilyn married Bradley C. Menke on December 1, 1979. They lived in Grand Island. Marilyn was part owner and bookkeeper for the family's business Brad's Landscaping. She completed her RN degree at Central Community College – Grand Island Campus in 1992. She worked as an RN at Midwest Dermatology, a nursing home facility, and Hy-Vee Pharmacy. Marilyn was an avid shopper, she enjoyed watching movies and was a Colorado football fan. She was often seen doing yard work, especially pulling weeds and tending to her flowers and plants. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was adored by her Siamese cat and two Toy poodles she had over the years. Most of all she will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and exceptional nurse and caregiver. Marilyn was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bradley Menke of Grand Island, NE Daughter, Brande Patterson of Grand Island, NE Son, Troy Menke of Grand Island, NE Step-daughter Jill (Matt) Brodbeck of Grand Island, NE Brothers, Ron (Pat) Janulewicz of Grand Island, NE Loren (Bobbie) Janulewicz of Denver, CO David Janulewicz of Westminster, CO Sister, Karen Janulewicz of Aurora, CO Others left to cherish her memory include her two step-grandchildren, Ellie and Koby Brodbeck, one niece, two nephews, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew Rob Janulewicz.
