Maria de Los Angeles Guzman de Cruz, 84, of Grand Island, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Grand Island Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Curran Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary led by Rev. Jorge Canela at 7:00 p.m. Maria will be inurned in Mexico at a later date. Maria was born on September 30, 1940, in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico, the daughter of Cipriano and Teresa (Pascual) Guzman.

She was married to Juan Cruz in Mexico, and together they had four children. Maria and her family moved to Los Angeles, California, around 1993. In 1997, Juan passed away, and Maria moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, in 2000.

Maria was a devoted member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish. As a homemaker, her life was dedicated to nurturing and caring for her family. She also enjoyed singing and dancing.

Maria will be missed by her son, Juan (Delia) Cruz of West Valley, Utah; daughter Maria (Jose) Rendon of Wichita, Kansas; daughters Miriam Ruiz and Angelica Cruz, both of Grand Island; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; her sister, Esperanza Guzman of Mexico; and her brother, Jesus (Rosa) Guzman of California.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Juan Cruz.
