Margie D. Mundt,93, of Grand Island, formerly of Central City, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society of Grand Island, with her family by her side. Services will be Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jonathan D. Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery by Pierce Chapel, Clarks, Nebraska, with a 1:30 p.m. committal service. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011, from 5 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Margie was born May 30, 1918 at Central City, Nebraska. She was the daughter of William & Birdie (Shively) Garrett. Survivors of her immediate family include two sons & daughters-in-law, David & Helen Mundt of Grand Island, NE Jack & Judy Mundt of Lebanon, Missouri A daughter & son-in-law, Lola & Jim Ruzicka of Grand Island, NE Others left to cherish her memory include 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, one great great grandson. Margie grew up in the Merrick County area, attending school at Central City. She married John Mundt on September 4, 1941. They farmed north of Central City all their married life and Margie worked for the W.P.A. for a short time. She played the piano by ear and enjoyed working in her back yard and with her flowers. She always had a big garden and enjoyed canning. She was an animal lover and especially loved her dog, Blackie. Mr. Mundt died May 12, 1999. Margie moved to Grand Island in October of 2003 to be near her children. She was a past member of the Fairview Church. She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, husband John, and grandchild, Johnny Mundt. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association.
