Margaret Muir, 87, of Grand Island, NE died, Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Golden Living Center Grand Island Lakeview. Memorial services will be Saturday, May, 16, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate. Margarets wishes were to be cremated. Inurnment will be in the Naponee Cemetery in Naponee, Nebraska at a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Margaret was born November 16, 1927, at Harvey, IL. She is the daughter of George and Lilly (Mogge) Voelker. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Donnie Muir on September 3, 2013. Survivors of the immediate family include her four sons and a daughter-in-law, Keith and Linda Briand of North Walkesboro, NC Kenny Briand of NC Kevin Briand of Abilene, KS Bobby Briand of Abilene, KS Three step-sons and two step daughters-in-law, Rocky and Mary Muir of Grand Island, NE Terry and Rita Muir of Grand Island, NE David Muir of Grand Island, NE Others left to cherish her memory include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren Margaret grew up and received her education outside of Chicago, IL. She graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1945. She married Robert Briand on in 1950 in Chicago, IL. They lived in several communities as Robert was in the service. She married Donnie Muir on July 27, 1967 at Franklin, NE. They lived in Abilene, KS where Margaret worked for the Abilene School District retiring in 1992. In retirement Margaret and Donnie wintered in Texas and spent their summers in Grand Island, NE. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and dancing. Memorials are suggested to the familys choice. She was preceded in death by her husband Donnie, a step daughter and step son-in-law, Carla and Butch Eddy and two step great grandchildren, Jaden Muir and Kasey Eddy.
