Obituary

Lynnette Marie Brooks, 60, died Feb. 12, 2011 in Austin, Texas, after a battle with cancer. Memorial service will be Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 10:30 AM at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island, Nebraska. The Rev. Mark A. Maresh will officiate. Inurnment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska. Lynnettes wishes were to be cremated, there is no visitation. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting with arrangements. Lynnette was born June 18, 1950, in Grand Island, Nebraska to William K. and Carmelita (Rose) Edwards. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ryder and Suzanne Brooks of Santa Cruz, CA Her parents, William & Carmelita Edwards of Grand Island, NE Three brothers & two sisters-in-law, William & Cara Edwards of Dallas, TX Martin & Ellen Edwards of Dallas, TX David Edwards of Texarkana, Arkansas A granddaughter, Lily Brooks. Lynnette graduated from Arkansas High School in 1968. She married Stephen Brooks June 12, 1971, in Texarkana, Arkansas. Lynnette relocated to central California where she lived and worked for over 20 years, exploring a wide variety of occupations. She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and sold real estate, then finally settled in Austin, Texas where she owned and operated a natural health care product business, Solana Systems. Her interests included cooking, furniture renovation, home decoration, photography, classic movies, meditation and many other artistic pursuits. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Beth. Elaine Bishop was the organist for the service and Joe Mattingly was the soloist. The music for the mass was, "On Eagle's Wings" as the Entrance Song, Offeratory Song, "Prayer of St. Francis", Communion Song, "Jesus My Lord, My God, My All", Meditation, "Time To Say Goodbye", Sending Forth Song, "Soon and Very Soon".
