Lucille M. Delaney, 90, of Grand Island died peacefully on July 16, 2022, at Riverside Lodge in Grand Island, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation with family greeting the public will be Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm with a vigil service at 7 pm at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Private family Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Donald A. Buhrman. The funeral mass will be livestreamed on St. Leo's Catholic Church's Facebook page for the public to view beginning at 10 am on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Lucille was born on August 13, 1931, in Lindsay, NE, to Frank and Margaret (Jansen) Ramaekers, Sr. She attended the Holy Family Grade School in Lindsay up to sixth grade when her family moved to Genoa. She completed grade school at the Rural School District 13 in Platte County and graduated from Genoa High School in 1949. After High School she worked in Omaha, then returned to Genoa to work as a dental assistant, where she met her future husband, Rex Delaney.
Lucille was married to Rex Delaney on January 5, 1957, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. She and Rex made their home in Fullerton where they raised their four daughters. She was an active member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, P.E.O. Chapter AG, and several bridge clubs.
In 1992 Lucille and Rex moved to Grand Island. Lucille loved the home they built there, and actively engaged in the community through the Newcomers Club, bridge clubs, P.E.O. Chapter GP, St. Leo's Catholic Church, and the Grand Island Saddle Club. She also enjoyed working at the Conestoga Mall Information Center and volunteering at the St. Francis Medical Center. In May of 2015 Lucille moved to Riverside Retirement Community where she very much enjoyed social activities and visits with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rex; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Roy Cline; and two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Claire Hansen, Susan Ramaeker, Robert Hays.
Survivors include her four daughters, Julie (Greg) Cahoj of Atwood, KS, Kris (Tom) Hanson of Maple Grove, MN, Lynda (Corey) Pobar of Denver, CO, and Terri (Loren) Haselhorst of Randolph, NE; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three brothers Frank (Lynda) Ramaekers Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Mark Ramaeker of Sarasota, FL, Dr. Joseph (Andrea') Ramaekers of Aptos, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
