Obituary

Lisa L. Crumrine, 57, of Grand Island, NE, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at her home, after very courageously battling Leukemia. Services will be Monday, June 16, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Dan Brenton will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 15, 2014, from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. More details will appear later. Mrs. Crumrine was born on November 1, 1956 in Grand Island, NE to Benjamin and Phyllis (Bradwell) Somer. Survivors include her husband, Rodney Crumrine of Grand Island, NE Three sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Joni Crumrine and their daughter Ellie of Lincoln, NE Jason Crumrine of Grand Island, NE Jeff Crumrine, of Kearney, NE and girlfriend, Hilary Anderson. Two brothers, Doug Somer, of Grand Island, NE and his fianc, Regina Rathman Randy Somer of Grand Island, NE One sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Greg Houselog of Grand Island, NE Mother-in-law, Ann Crumrine of Ogallala, NE Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane and Dave Krajewski of Ogallala, NE Deb and Joel Sanders of Ogallala, NE Others left to cherish her memory include nieces and nephews, Nicole Meier, Brittany Houselog, Brian Somer, Nick Somer, Dean, Dan, Dustin and Darrin Krajewski. In addition, Lisa co-partnered with her brother Doug along with his fianc and his family in serving as an American mom to Swedes: Olle Karlsson, Johan Yngwe, Carl Kristianson and Jacob Klintburg, who were students in the EFS Program. Lisa grew up in and remained in Grand Island, NE all of her life. She married the love of her life, Rodney Crumrine, on October 7, 1978, in Grand Island, NE. They made their home in Grand Island. Lisa lived for and loved the Lord Jesus, her family, and every person she met eventually became her friend. She had a deep knowledge of Christian scripture and teachings. She loved sharing her faith, and how Jesus had not only touched, but changed her life forever, with each and every person she could reach with the message of His salvation. Lisas hobbies included walking, baking/cooking, boating, water-skiing, jet skiing, playing golf, and spending time with her family at Johnsons Lake. She had a love for traveling across our great country as well, and kept a bag packed at all times just in case an opportunity arose on the spur of the moment so that she could do just this. Lisa inherited the role of Somer family story/joke teller extraordinaire after her parents death. Lisa was a 1974 graduate of GISH, and a 1977 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing. In her career as a Registered Nurse Lisa began her employment at Lutheran Memorial Hospital until the merger in 1986, after which she was employed by St. Francis Medical Center and then Internal Medical Associates until 1994. She took an interest in, and pursued a career in real estate in 1994, initially going to work for the late Sam Huston. She joined 6 other partners and co-Founded the Real Estate Group of Grand Island in 2001. Lisa was the local Board President of the Grand Island Board of Realtors. In addition she was actively involved in the Nebraska Realtors Board of Governors, governmental affairs, and RPAC. Lisa served on the board of and served as Board Chair of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce in 2011, and with them got to realize the dream of bringing the Nebraska State Fair to our great city. Lisa was a co-founder of Heartland Workplace Ministries as well, the mission of which is to share the gospel of our Lord to others within the workplace, as well as to teach business leaders how to run their businesses on Biblical principles. She attended the Evangelical Free Church. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Phyllis Somer, a brother Benjamin Martin Jr. Somer (Marty), and her father-in-law, Jerald Crumrine. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grand Island Evangelical Free Church, Heartland Workplace Ministries, or to GI Student Exchange EFS Program.
