Leslie D. Les Rathjen, 70, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Friday, February, 14, 2014, at Golden Living Center, Park Place. Mr. Rathjens request was to be cremated. A memorial service will be Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Pastor Dan Brenton will officiate. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Mr. Rathjen was born September 20, 1943 at Loup City, Nebraska. He was the son of Herold W. & Angela Elaine (Larsen) Rathjen. Survivors of the immediate family include his son & daughter-in-law: Kevin S. & Kam Rathjen of Grand Island, NE Two daughters: Michelle Mikki R. Rathjen of Grand Island, NE Anita K. Stevens of La Vista, NE Three brothers & sisters-in-law: Gerald W. & JoAnn Rathjen of Roseville, CA Lynn D. & Glenda Rathjen of Grand Island, NE Roger L. & Jane Rathjen of Poway, CA Two Grandchildren Kormic & Brinn Rathjen Mr. Rathjen grew up in Beatrice and received his education at Beatrice High School. He continued his schooling at Milford Trade School. He married Diane J. Waterman on October 20, 1963 at Beatrice, NE. They lived in Aurora and he was employed at Bonnavilla Mobile Homes retiring in 2000 after 28 years of service. He was a carpenter at heart, enjoying woodworking and fishing. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Childrens Home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herold & Elaine Rathjen.
