Obituary

Leota Belle Olson, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Tiffany Square Care Center. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., at the Lenora South Cemetery in Lenora, Kansas. Rev. Robert Speer will officiate. There is no visitation. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting with the services. Belle was born September 24, 1918, at Rural Bourbon County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Charles & Grace (Hockett) Beck. Survivors of the immediate family include: One daughter & son-in-law: Margaret & Darwin Odle of Grand Island, NE One grandson: Bruce Odle of Grand Island, NE One granddaughter & her husband: Shannon & Greg Olson of Ragan, NE Two great grandchildren: Caleb & Cailyn Two step-grandchildren: Kim Heron of Hayes, KS Brenda Odle of Hays, KS Six step-great grandchildren & eight step-great great grandchildren Belle grew up and received her education in rural Bourbon Co, Kansas. She was employed as a telephone operator for Rural Kansas for a year. She worked at Norton State Hospital in the dietary area. She married Delane Olson on December 1, 1938 at Minden, Nebraska. They farmed in Lenora, Kansas for 50 years. Mr. Olson died December 8, 1978. Belle moved to Grand Island in October of 1997 to be near her daughter. She was a past member of South Star EHU Extension Service, Polly Anna Card Club & Sewing Club. Memorials are suggested to the United Parish Church in Lenora, Kansas.
