Leonard F. Lenny Lamphear, 73, of Grand Island, NE, died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 5 6 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Lenny was born January 1, 1938, at Rawlings, Wyoming. He was the son of Floyd & Gladys (Vogt) Lamphear.
Survivors of the immediate family include his sister & brother-in-law, Mary Ann & Larry Hettler of Grand Island, NE
Niece & her husband, Tammy & Patrick McLaughlin of Kearney, NE
Nephew & his wife, Jason & Robin Hettler of Wood River, NE
Grand nephews, Jacob & Connor McLaughlin & Andrew & Mason Hettler
Lenny grew up in Alda, Nebraska, graduating from Alda High School in 1956. He was employed at Mevis Bowl, Da-ly Reality, The Grand Island Independent, New Holland and was maintenance manager at Riverside Golf Course, retiring in 2003, after 18 years of service.
He was a sports enthusiast, especially enjoying Nebraska football and bowling. He was a fan of and loved watching his niece, nephew and grand nephews sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
