Obituary

Leo J. Mostek, 58, of Grand Island, NE, died Monday, January 12, 2015, as the result of a car accident. Mr. Mosteks wishes were to be cremated. A memorial mass is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Cathedral. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski Jr. will officiate. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Leo was born January 25, 1956, at Grand Island, NE. He was the son of Leo and Genevieve A. (Thompson) Mostek. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 38 years Laura Mostek of Grand Island, NE A daughter, Brianna Mostek of Omaha, NE Three sons and a daughter-in-law, Brendon Mostek of Belle Chasse, LA Jeremy and Tamara Mostek of Hickman, NE Aaron Mostek of North Platte, NE Three grandsons, Dylan, Mason and Spencer Mostek Brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Katie Mostek of Bay City, MI Bob and Diane Mostek of Littleton, CO Ron and Cindy Mostek of Aurora, CO Jim and Linda Mostek of Newman Grove, NE Dan and Linda Mostek of Boelus, NE Herb Mostek of Kearney, NE Sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Ron Gibson of Auburn, MI Joan and Frank Gosda of Grand Island, NE Pat Meyers of Lincoln, NE Leo grew up in Grand Island until 1972 when he moved to his grandmothers, in Petersburg, NE. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1974. After high school he worked at Madison Foods in Madison, NE for four years. He married Laura Starman on September 4, 1976, in Raeville, NE. Leo accepted a supervisor position with Farmland Foods in Iowa Falls, Iowa for seven years before transferring with the company to Crete, NE. They moved to Grand Island, NE in 1999 when Leo began working as site manager for Packers Sanitation Services in Gibbon, NE, where he was employed at the time of his accident. He enjoyed being with his family, children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting and watching old western movies. He was a member of St. Marys Cathedral.
