Kent A. Grabill, 70, of Grand Island, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Services will be Thursday, March 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jack Gillam will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Team. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012, from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Kent was born December 15, 1941, at Harlan, Iowa. He was the son of Wayne R. & Adelaide (Kirk) Grabill.

Others left to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, Hannah Grabill, Andrea Patton, Alisha Townsley, Andrew Esquitin, Jordan, Jared & Jenna Barker, Lizzy Hedglin, Matt Barker.
Great grandchildren, Zoey, Willow, Tyler, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Kent grew up in Iowa before moving to Grand Island with his family. He graduated from Grand Island Sr. High in 1960. He worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. He was a member of the 295th Army Reserve and was called to active duty on July 23, 1963 and served until January 22, 1964. He returned to Grand Island where he married Joan Aspinal on September 4, 1965. He served a second tour beginning April 29, 1968, serving with the Army Ammunition Supply in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on March 16, 1969. He attended Central Community College, Hastings Campus on his return completing his certification in Auto Body/Auto Paint. He was employed at New Holland, Green Muffler & Break Shop, Anderson Ford, Toyota, and Hamilton Chevrolet. He married Mary Barker on November 9, 1978, at Grand Island. In June of 1995 Kent became disabled, forcing him to retire in September of 1995.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid dirt track racing fan. He liked to fish, hunt, and enjoyed the out of doors. He loved chocolate and peanut butter.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW.
Memorials are suggested to the familys choice.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents and a son Scott Barker.
