Kathleen M. O'Brien, 84, of Parker, CO died January 16, 2024, at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, CO. Kathleen's wish was to be cremated. Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald A. Buhrman will be the celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Kathleen was born January 19, 1939, in Grand Island, NE. She was the daughter of George B. and Irene A. (Lacina) O'Brien. Kathleen grew up in Grand Island and graduated with the first graduating class of Grand Island Central Catholic in 1956. She continued her education at Loreto Heights College in Denver, CO graduating in 1961 with a degree in Nutrition. Kathleen worked at Children's Hospital in Denver as a dietician. She also worked for 20+ years in the insurance industry in Denver. Kathleen enjoyed drives through the mountains, was a fan of the Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers football teams. She was a collector of Hummels, enjoyed photography, scrapbooking, reading, and playing Bingo. Kathleen was a longtime active parishioner at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Denver, CO. Kathleen is survived by her nephews: Mike O'Brien and his wife Lynn, Mark O'Brien and his wife Rosemarie, Steve O'Brien; nieces: Megan Mahan and her husband Mike, Mary O'Brien, Melissa Monaghan and her husband Rob, Maureen Weber and her husband Brian. She is preceded in death by her parents, George B. and Irene O'Brien, brothers, George P. O'Brien and Jerry D. O'Brien.
