Joy Susan Catholos was born the third of seven daughters of Jimmie A. and Lois June (Ramel) Catholos in Malcolm, Nebraska. As a young girl, the family moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where Joy grew up and graduated from Northwest High School. After working several jobs, she attended and graduated from UNK with a Bachelors Degree, then a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She worked for Insulation Systems for 16 years at the time of her death.
Joy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a child, and He put a song in her heart at that time, which she never quit singing and sang her whole life. Her love for Christ and her family and friends were what she lived for. She will be remembered for that love and loyalty that was always a fresh spring from her heart poured out and lavished on those around her. Her lifes message was that God is good all of the timethat love, mercy, and forgiveness are at the cross of Christ for any who would come. She attended Grand Island Free Church.
She is survived by five sisters, two brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply as her very own: Jamey and Eric Cox from Omaha, Jackie Catholos from Grand Island, Jonna Catholos from Omaha, Judy and Steve Lorenzen from Central City, and Jo Catholos from Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her sister Jill and her parents, Jimmie and Lois Catholos.
