Joseph "Lynn" Sola, 71, of Grand Island, NE died Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in Grand Island, NE. Services will be Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Fonner Park Café. Come as you are. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Joe was born November 19, 1946, at Alliance, NE. He was the son of Peter and Jewel (Leadbetter) Sola. Survivors of his immediate family include his wife of 46 years Janice Sola of Grand Island, NE Children, Robert Sola of Grand Island, NE Gloriann Sola-Gross of Seward, NE Suzann Luark of Vian, OK Chris Sola of IA Macayla McCollum of FL Brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Connie Sola of CO Patrick Sola of CO Alice Brabb of Lincoln, NE Sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Roy Dobbs of Clinton, OK Others left to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, Shelby Sola, Andrew Luark, Mackynna Gross, Allysen Gross, Jessica Gross, Justin Gross, Cole McCollum, and Chase McCollum. Joe grew up in Chadron, NE before moving to Omaha, NE with his family. He graduated from Creighton Prep High School in 1964. He married Janice Sorge on August 14, 1971 at Omaha, NE. The couple lived in Lincoln, NE where Joe worked for Goodyear as a service manager until retiring in 2003. They moved to Grand Island shortly after his retirement. Joe trained thoroughbred horses from 1977 until his death, racing mainly in Nebraska. His passion was horses and he enjoyed feeding the squirrels. He loved his family and the time spent with his children, grandchildren, "N that stuff". He was the best Grandpa! He was a member of the HPBA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
