Obituary

Joseph D. "Joe" Bukowski, 74, of Grand Island, NE, died Saturday, October 22, 2016, at CHI Health St. Francis Skilled Care. Private graveside services will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Marty L. Egging will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 9 – 10 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Joe was born September 26, 1942, at Ashton, Nebraska. He was the son of Joseph and Anna (Gappa) Bukowski. Survivors of the immediate family include his many nieces and nephews including his niece and caregiver Susan Williams of Doniphan, NE. Joe grew up in Ashton, NE until moving with his family to Grand Island in 1955 where he attended Grand Island Central Catholic High School. After his schooling he worked for the City of Grand Island in the sanitation department and later worked for Vanosdall Sanitation. He was head custodian for Gates School and worked for Stuhr Museum as a maintenance man. His passion was fixing and tinkering automobiles for anyone who asked. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William, Henry, Eugene, Raymond, and sisters, Mary Ann Miller, Margaret and Floriann Bukowski and many friends.
