John D. Zebert, 44, of Grand Island, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, in Grand Island. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Pastor Paul Canady will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. John was born May 27, 1970, at Grand Island, Nebraska. He was the son of Dale and Anne (DeLashmutt) Zebert. Survivors of the immediate family include his son, Tyler Zebert and his mother Jodi Zebert of Grand Island, NE Father and step mother, Dale and Kena Zebert of Grand Island, NE Brothers, Brian Zebert of Grand Island, NE Daniel Zebert of Lincoln, NE Sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Bill Schutz of St. Paul, NE and their son William Schutz. John grew up in Grand Island, attending grade school at Howard and Engleman and high school at Northwest. He worked at several companies in the area including Yant Equipment Co. At the time of his death he was employed at Seneca Tank Technology. John spent a lot of his evenings working side by side with Stevie, at the Library Lounge. They were great friends and John was Stevies self-appointed protector. John was Tylers biggest fan, he enjoyed attending all his school and sporting activities. He enjoyed the company of his dogs Koko and Shiloh. Family and friends were an important part of his life. He was a kind hearted soul who would do whatever he could to help someone. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed fishing, car shows, 80s rock music and visiting the family farm. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Zebert, grandparents, Adam and Mildred (Timmerman) Zebert and Keith and Dorothy (Duncan) DeLashmutt. Memorials are suggested to the familys choice.
