John "Jack" Pohlmeier, 76, of Pahrump, NV, died April 22, 2014, at St. Rose Dominican-San Martin hospital in Las Vegas, after an 8 year bout with leukemia and a short battle with pneumonia. A Memorial Service will be held at Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Rd., Pahrump, NV 89048, on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Lawrence, NE. Fr. Thomas Bush will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lawrence, NE. Military honors will be provided by Kent Kaily Post #45 Honor Guard, Lawrence, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Jack was born on October 24, 1937 in Lawrence, Nebraska. He was the 6th of 9 children who grew up on their family farm of Albert and Lenora (Biglin) Pohlmeier.

Others left to cherish Jacks memory include his 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
After attending Lawrence high school, Jack enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Moses Lake, WA. There he met and married Loretta McCanta and they had three daughters. After the loss of his wife in 1964, he returned to his home of Nebraska and began work in his future career of appliance repair. Jack met Betty Kimminau of Lawrence, NE, and they were married on April 30, 1966. Together, they moved to Grand Island, NE where they would reside for the next 27 years, and add to their family a son and three more daughters. Jack worked for Potter's Appliance for several years, and then he and Betty worked together to start and build their business, "Jack's Appliance Repair Service". In 1993, they moved to the warmer weather of Pahrump, NV.
Jack loved his family, golf, horse racing, playing cards, gardening and sports. He enjoyed the company of many friends who remember him for his helpful, kind, friendly ways, and his devilish smile.
Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lenora Pohlmeier of Lawrence, NE; his first wife, Loretta, a sister, Connie Drudik; a brother, Dave Pohlmeier; and a granddaughter, Abby Pohlmeier.
