John I. Miller Jr., 58, of Grand Island died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. John's wish was to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Curran Funeral Chapel with a rosary service at 7 p.m. John's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Donald A. Buhrman will officiate. In lieu of flowers plants are suggested or memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. John was born December 3, 1963, in Grand Island, NE. He was son of John I. and Judy C. (Clingerman) Miller Sr. The family moved to California in 1968 returning to Grand Island in 1973. John attended Westlawn Elementary, Walnut Middle School and graduated from Grand Island Sr. High School in 1982. He married Patricia J. (Padi) Petersen on January 4, 1986, in Grand Island, NE. They lived in Grand Island and Riverton, WY where they raised their two sons Aaron and Derek. John was larger than life and a stranger to no one. He had the gift of gab and relished visiting with anyone and everyone, especially the many friends he encountered while working sales at Toner's Inc/Titan Machinery, where he was known as "Uncle Buck". He was a fierce supporter of his boys sporting and school activities. If Aaron or Derek had a game or a wrestling meet you always found John in the bleachers. He had a need for speed, he loved fast cars, fast motorcycles, and fast four wheelers. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved sharing his passion for fishing and hunting with his sons and grandsons. John was a huge Husker fan, "Go Big Red"! John will be missed by his wife, Padi Miller of Grand Island, NE Sons, Aaron (Magan) Miller and their children Ian and Harlan of Grand Island, NE Derek Miller of Grand Island, NE Brother, Jeff (Shanna) Miller of Grand Island, NE Mother-in-law, Marcella Petersen of Grand Island, NE His grand dogs, Ernie, Buster and Drake. John is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Haywood, father, John Miller Sr., father-in-law, Edwin Petersen, and both maternal grandparents, Harold and Gladys Miller, Lee and Marcia Clingerman, and numerous aunts and uncles.
