Jesse Jay Myers lll, 65, of Grand Island, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Chaplain John Mueller will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Jay was born August 30, 1950 at Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Jesse J. and Mary Lou (Sloan) Myers ll.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Mary E. Myers of Grand Island, NE
A brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Angie Myers of Denver, Colorado
A nephew, Lee Myers of Denver, Colorado
Jay received his education in Idaho and Colorado completing his GED, in addition he completed Cosmetology School in Denver and began working as a hairstylist later owning and operating his own salon. He enrolled in trucking school in Colorado, after which he drove with a company for a few years before driving for Corby Flagle. He married Mary Ellen Dandurand on October 17, 1998 at Chapman, NE. They lived in Grand Island and team drove together off and on for several years. Jay was an owner/operator, leasing to Sunrise Express until retiring in 2014 due to health issues.
He was an avid craftsman, enjoying woodworking, gardening, hunting and caring for and being with his furry kids, River and Tucker.
He was a member of OOIDA (Owner Operator Independent Driver Association) and the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his son Jesse J. Myers lV, parents, and a brother Terry Lee Myers.
