James S. "Jamie" Smith, 69, of St. Paul, NE died Friday, August 22, 2025, at his home.  Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, NE.  Rev. Vincent L. Parsons will be the celebrant assisted by Deacon Phil Lukasiewicz.  Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley, NE with a 1 p.m. committal service.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the church with a vigil service at 6 p.m.  Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.  Your thoughts and prayers may be given at www.curranfuneralchapel.com under Jamie's obituary.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Jamie was born October 6, 1955, in Greeley, NE, the son of Lawrence E. and Shirley M. (Butcher) Smith.  He grew up in Greeley attending Sacred Heart School and graduating from Greeley High School in 1974.  He continued his education at Denver Culinary School followed by Joseph School of Beauty in Grand Island.  He worked as a hair stylist before beginning his career with Monfort and later Case New Holland in Grand Island. Jamie worked in maintenance for St. Paul Public School retiring in 2023.  He honed his cooking skills working at St. Paul's American Legion Club and Jim's Truck Stop.

Jamie enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, cooking, and traveling.
