Obituary

James "Trucker Jim" Dahlke. James was born November 9, 1950, in Lincoln, NE. He was the son of Adolf and Irene (James) Dahlke. He graduated from high school and entered the Army on September 30, 1968, serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on October 6, 1971. He returned to Nebraska, beginning his career as an OTR truck driver and retiring after 30 years in the business. You could find James riding his motorcycle or hanging out at the VFW playing pickle cards with his buddies and visiting his grandkids on the weekends in Lincoln. He loved to pass his days on the farm and savored the quality time spent with his good friend and neighbor Wes Encinger and his two sons. James will be missed by Ashley (Nicholas) Milner and their family. Sister, Mildred Others left to cherish his memory include his niece, Brenda Riley; nephew, Benjamin Harris; grandnephews, Brian, Matthew, and Colby Cronin, Clayton and Thomas Harris; aunt, Arlene Clayton, children of Sharon Scalf, who preceded him in death, Kenneth, Robin, Tracy, and Dawn, and their children. James was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Scalf. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date, in care of Curran Funeral Chapel, 3005 S. Locust St. Grand Island, NE 68801. Inurnment will be in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE on Friday, April14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Military honors will be provided.
